The Seagram Company Ltd. (which traded as Seagram's) was a Canadian multinational conglomerate formerly headquartered in Montreal, Quebec.Originally a distiller of Canadian whisky based in Waterloo, Ontario, it was in the 1990s the largest owner of alcoholic beverage lines in the world.. Toward the end of its independent existence, it also controlled various entertainment and other business.

Interestingly enough, Seagrams VO was originally a 13-year whiskey with a very different bottle design. I think the design changed in the 1930's and the age had already dropped to 6 years. I have two bottles of the 13-yr dated 1922, and given Canadian tax strips they were bottled in 1935.

Seagram's VO is quite classic Canadian blend, made of whisky at least 6 years of age. I noticed that Google suggest gives you search phrase "VO Scotch". Apparently people search with that phrase and think the brand is Scottish. So for the record, it's not. The whisky comes from Canada. There's lots of speculation what the letter VO stand for.

In the finish, I believe Seagram's 7 won that round. I like a shorter finish, and the caramel was a lot better than the bitter taste from Seagram's VO. However, the latter has that classic whisky feeling, and most people expect that, so it could be a toss-up for you. The bitter taste was off-putting to me.
