It was planned to enhance the front armor by mounting a 280-mm armor plate. Existed only in blueprints. The AMX M4 mle. 54 marks the end of the heavily-armed and armoured French heavy tank branch.

The tier9 is great tho. Big plus is the tier7 also lesds to the 50b if Im correct about that. The 50b is amazing, but hard to master. If youre more of a beginner, the M4 54 will be the better choice. make sure to have a way to skip the t8, its painful to grind through that thing other than that the line is pretty good.

The AMX M4 54 has a minimum of 240mm effective on the lfp, with 330 effective ufp. The only weaker bit is the cupolas and weaker effective turret cheeks, but the IS-4 still has the super overmatchable turret anyways. And HEAT will go through that IS-4 in all but the turret cheeks without issue. Hell you can probably have say a T-100 frontally.
