Bluff Point Lighthouses The lower octagonal shaped tower, built on the beach, was destroyed by fire in 1955 and demolished. The upper tower is square and attached to the lightkeeper's quarters. The towers were 260m apart. Both were built of limestone. The lightkeepers cottage has been the headquarters of the Geraldton Historical Society since 1972.

There are a number of campsites and trails on this beautiful island . The Valcour Island Heritage Trail is a 7.5 mile loop around the island, but the true highlight is the Bluff Point Lighthouse. The Clinton County Historical Assn. (CCHA) conducts tours of the lighthouse interior on Sunday afternoons in July and August.

Bluff Point Lighthouse at Valcour Island Lakes to Locks Passage

The Bluff Point Lighthouse at Valcour Island is a popular destination for 100's of tourists each year. The United States Lighthouse Society designed a stamp for the lighthouse which Society members collect when visiting. Access to the island is by boat only.

At the Bluff Point end, you'll see the original Bluff Point Lighthouse. Rundle Park has a nice playground, picnic and BBQ facilities. Go shopping at the Platform Markets. Located on the platform of the old railway station, the historic building comes to life with a fun range of stalls selling food, art and craft. The markets run.

The public is invited to visit the historic Bluff Point Lighthouse on Valcour Island Sundays July 3rd, July 17th, July 24th and July 31st from 1 to 3 pm. On July 10th, the lighthouse will be open from 9 am to 2:30 pm and transportation to the lighthouse will be available between 9 am and 1:30 pm. The cost is $30 per person.
